Holiday lights and other electrical decorations can over subscribe electrical circuits while candles and other open flames add charm. But all represent real dangers. This concerns us and we want to help our customers have the safest and most enjoyable holiday season.” Mrs Roy continues, “To help in this regard we are now stocking rolls of Quilters Dream brand Dream Angel fire retardant batting and Nomex fire retardant threads. For customers requesting our new Fireproof Service package for their projects we will replace typical cotton or polyester batting with Dream Angel fire retardant batting, and use flame retardant white Nomex thread for the quilting. This combination of products in the holiday quilt project will provide the best safety and protection possible.” Quilters Dream brand Dream Angel is made of fibers which are inherently flame retardant. They are designed not to melt or flow when in contact with flame. Together they form a flame retardant batting which will not wash out. The batting is not sprayed with chemical additives and there are no PBDE's additives. Dream Angel was tested by an independent laboratory and meets both international standards and the new draft CAL 604. Dream Angel has a wonderfully natural look and feel. The fibers are needle punched into a beautiful, soft, cozy batting, very resistant to creasing that drapes beautifully. The finished quilt may be machine washed and dried. Nomex sewing threads will not propagate flame and will not char up to approximately 750 degrees Fahrenheit. Nomex is used in racing suits, flight suits, fire fighting gear and other applications that may involve the risk of exposure to fire. “The charge for our Fireproof Service package will be $11 per yard for batting and an additional $0.003 per square inch for Nomex thread,” explained Mrs Roy. “For a typical Tree Skirt project measuring 60” in diameter the additional cost amounts to about $14.00.” Mrs Roy concludes, “We are always looking for new ways to serve our customers and with this package we offer a reasonably priced option that delivers a unique attribute to typical quilt finishing services - Safety.” The new Fireproof Service package is available to all customers for quilting projects of all kinds year round.
