Announces New “Show Quality” Service
The new Show Quality
service is offered for all quilt finishing preferences. A quilt need not be scheduled for custom or
hand guided quilting. Customers may
choose a simple edge-to-edge service but choose to upgrade the finishing to
Show Quality for the highest grade result.
Show Quality finishing services are available for a premium over the
cost of the total Service Order. The
price for quilt finishing is typically based on the time and materials needed
to complete the project. And many
machine quilters only provide the highest grade of show and art quality
finishing service. Mrs. Roy says, “Not everyone needs this level of service
all the time. Nor do they want to wait
long periods of time to get their quilts back because the quilter only does
high end work. We want to offer our
customers the option to get Show Quality finishing as, and only when, they
need it.” The upgrade to Show Quality finishing includes these extra
features: Hand
Finished Ends The ends of quilted motifs are typically tied on and off
by machine. This leaves a small but
noticeable nub of thread that can detract from some quilting. And in the case of some thread types, the
machine tie off may not provide the longest lasting security for thread
ends. All motifs that start and stop
in the midst of the quilt will be hand tied and thread ends buried with Show
Quality service. The hand tying will
provide both the most secure termination of thread ends as well as a clean
finish. Zero
Thread Breaks Under typical quilting, thread breaks will occur. The usual process is to tie in new thread
at the break point and continue on.
Should a thread break occur under Show Quality assurance we will rip
the quilting, an entire row if needs be, so that the stitching is seamless
and unbroken. Knit
Picking Quilts will often come in with many loose and stray
threads that must be cleaned up. While
these are typically managed on the face side of the quilt, stray threads on
the seam side can also find their way into light colored blocks and detract
from the finished work. All loose and
stray threads on both sides of the quilt will be trimmed and cleaned to
assure the best possible finished appearance. High Detail Management While the best overall finish of any quilting performed
is the goal, small variations, especially distances between interlocking rows
for edge-to-edge quilting or squaring within blocks, will occur. With Show Quality service equally spaced
pattern row to row interlocking, squared alignment, and in the case of echo
quilting or SID, equal spacing from the reference seam or stitching. Special attention to stitch quality,
consistency and efficacy to the quilt finishing will be observed. “With this service we
offer our customers the option to get a higher grade of finishing service at
a reasonable price,” said Mrs. Roy.
“Customers should note that Show Quality finishing can also be used
for quilts not intended for show.
Quilts intended for use as examples of their work at home, or will be
given as gifts can receive Show Quality service to convey the care, effort
and love that was invested to create this artwork. Bed quilts, wall hangings or any quilt can
receive our Show Quality service.
