Charity Quilt Encounter
Program Fairfield, CT (05
November 2005) – Little Red Quilt House (LRQH) announces an opportunity
for area quilt guilds to efficiently achieve the charitable components of
their charters and for those guilds wanting to perform charitable work a
means to those ends. “We recognize that our customer base is comprised of members
of area and regional guilds. These members help to promote our services to
their fellow guild members and our business has grown substantially over the past
few years as a result,” said Janice Roy, founder of Little Red Quilt House. “We
have been looking for ways to give something back to our customers, their
guilds and the community that will provide a benefit transcending something
simply monetary. We know that most guilds schedule an assortment of member
team projects designed to meet a variety of charitable needs. By working with
our regular rental customers finishing charity quilts ad hoc for their guilds
we have, as of late, been able to assemble a set of criteria that can be
applied to assist guilds to complete their projects in a more timely and
programmatic way. We call this new program the Charity Quilt Encounter.” The guild Charity Quilt Encounter is an extension of the LRQH
equipment rental program. Because such a significant group of area quilters
have taken the LRQH quilting system orientation, the ability of these skilled
Statler Stitcher and free
motion quilters to perform the finishing work for the charity quilt projects
makes meeting the workload demands possible. During this same period, LRQH
has upgraded all the available quilting, sewing, embroidery and other systems
to the latest software and accessories available. This means quilting
projects of increased complexity, or large numbers of simple quilts can be
finished within a reasonable time frame. Available to any guilds making a request for an Encounter
day, LRQH will make available all the necessary equipment, cutting tables,
software for Internet access and pattern generation, threads and professional
LRQH staff assistance to complete as many quilts as possible in a single One‑Day
session. Guild members will perform functions like sewing, trimming, quilting
preparation, and for those authorized – finishing of the quilts on our Statler Stitcher systems. LRQH
staff will work with guild members to complete the quilting projects as
quickly and efficiently as possible. “We anticipate that a guild sponsored group of four to six
members working with our staff should be able to finish several quilting
projects in a single day.” Mrs Roy continued,”By efficiently dividing up the work this small
group of guild members under the direction of our staff can prep the quilts, perform
leader pinning, simple Edge‑To‑Edge quilting and go right to the binding
step in a short time frame. We will make available our entire collection of
quilting machines, high speed sewing and binding systems, as well as other
supplies and systems to complete the work and help the guild deliver projects
done well and of high value.” Mrs Roy
concluded, “Through this program we hope to give something back to the
community and to the members of the guilds who have supported us so well.” Appointments for a Little Red Quilt House ‘Charity Quilt
Encounter’ can be made at any mutually convenient time and is open to any
quilt guild making a request. Interested guilds should contact Little Red
