Finishing Your Quilt Project

Since 2002, Little Red Quilt House has offered a By-Mail quilt finishing service. To date our growing client list of over 1300 quilters in 29 States confidently mail us their quilts for finishing. In part due to the quality of our work but more importantly because of our state‑of‑the‑art method of working with quilters via the Internet to share ideas about the way we will complete their project. Though you may be across town or thousands of miles from our Connecticut studio, we can make your quilt finishing experience feel local and personalized.

Sending In Your Quilt

We want your quilting experience to be as convenient as possible and have developed a process that is easy for you and gets your quilt finished quickly and professionally. Local quilting clients can drop off their projects at one of our partner quilt shops in Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania and Michigan. You are also welcome to visit our studio to drop off your quilt(s) and we can personally review threads, battings, patterns and other finishing services. Per our “No Rules” policy, you may include threads, batting and any other materials you would like incorporated into your quilt. For others, the mail is most convenient and here’s how best to mail your quilt:

1)   Download and complete one of our Service Order forms and include it with your quilt.

2)   Wrap your materials in a plastic bag to protect them from dirt, dust and moisture during shipping.

3)   Box up your wrapped materials and ship to:

Little Red Quilt House

60 Access Road

Stratford,  CT  06615

(203) 258-9464

4)   Use a service with a Tracking ID, for example:

a.   US Postal Priority Mail

b.    Federal Express

c.    United Parcel Service

d.    DHL Worldwide

e.   AIT Logistics

When Your Project Arrives

When your project reaches our studio we will notify you by phone and/or email that your project was received. We will log the project into our Quilt Queue Tracking system and provide you with the unique Project Code that will be used to refer to your quilt. If you send multiple quilts at the same time (several in the same box) we will use an Alpha code at the end of your Project Code Number. For example six quilts in a box would be coded: 20050913A, 20050913B, 20050913C, 20050913D, 20050913E and 20050913F.

Customizing Your Quilt

Unless you have provided specifics on the Service Order regarding what you would like us to do, we will develop a variety of finishing strategies for your project(s). Using a combination of digital photography and state-of-the-art software, we digitally overlay various Edge‑To‑Edge, Block, Border and custom designs on your quilt like those shown above. This information is stored on our Customer Service web site that you can access with your favorite web browser. For each project we create a private directory to which only you and we have access. Below is a link to a sample directory:

We will also provide itemized estimates for the various proposed finishing solutions in Adobe .PDF format. By using the modern capabilities of the Internet and your favorite browser we provide you with an interactive experience that allows us to work together to achieve exactly what you want done on your quilt. Once you confirm a finishing solution, we get to work and finish the project right away.

Returning Your Quilt To You

Unless you specify an alternative preference we ship your project back to you via Federal Express. When your project ships we advise by email along with the FedEx tracking number that allows you to follow your project home through the FedEx online system.
